When mother and dad were married they didn't have much money so dad bought mother an engagement ring with a very small diamond. But the diamond was ensconced in a finely wrought setting of white gold that gave beauty and context to the diamond.
Sometimes we must settle for very small diamonds – our daily bread can be sparse. But the larger context of our being and the love it represents validates the intent and meaning of our lives and bestows upon it deep assurance.
