When
have you been hurting or in need? Who reached out to you? (Serendipity
Bible 10th Anniversary Edition, page 1381).
It
is impossible for me to consider this question without thinking of a
homosexual encounter I had once in college with a young man named
David K. I know it is common to attribute such behavior to lust and
sin. I can never think about this in that way however. The plain
fact is that I was hurting and desperately alone. I was feeling
rejected by humanity and David obviously admired me as a person of
worth and value— someone willing to make me feel equal and special.
I will always be grateful to him for assuaging a pain that was deep
and profound and for rescuing me from utter despair.
