How do you
celebrate a long-awaited goal or unexpected victory? (Serendipity Bible 10th Anniversary
Edition, p.154).
When
I consider this question, what come to mind are my days in graduate school at
FSU in Tallahassee, FL. Once after
arriving in Tallahassee for the beginning of a term, I walked down to Winn
Dixie supermarket and bought a half gallon of Neapolitan ice cream. I sat in a wooded area overlooking some
apartments and ate the entire thing. When the term was over and I had taken the
last test and turned in the last term paper, I visited the Krispy Kreme store near
campus and got one dozen fresh out of the fryer glazed doughnuts. I walked back to the campus and sat on the porch
of the auditorium where I had watched the movie Fountainhead (by Ayn Rand) during the term, and ate the
entire box of doughnuts. Thus, I punctuated
the exertions of the term with sugar highs.
